Malwarebytes security database collects malware samples and uses them to detect similar types of malware on your device. Keeping these databases up to date ensures that you are being protected against the latest threats. Read on to learn how set up database updates on your Android device.
Enable automatic database updates
To turn on automatic database updates:
- Open the Mobile Security app on your Android device.
- Tap Settings
.
- Tap Security, then Database updates.
- Toggle on Auto updates enabled.
- Tap Update frequency, then choose how often you want the app to check for updates.
- Note: Be aware that the Update frequency setting only sets how often the app checks for updates, not how often the database will update.
Manually check for database updates
On the Database updates screen, you can check for updates yourself by tapping Check for updates under Update status. The timestamp will then change to the last time the app checked for updates.
Even though it is important to keep your security databases as up to date as possible, you don't need to manually check for updates every day as threats don't change that fast.
Trusted Advisor database notifications
Even if automatic updates are turned on, Trusted Advisor will notify you when an update is ready. Your Trusted Advisor score might drop for a bit, but it will go back up after the next scheduled update.
