Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) keep your personal information secure by encrypting the traffic carrying your information from you to websites or apps connected to the internet. If you have a paid VPN subscription, you can customize VPN settings on your Android devices to ensure your traffic is encrypted when you access the internet.
Secure Android devices with Always-on VPN
The Always-on VPN setting ensures your device uses a private, encrypted internet connection. This feature automatically establishes a connection with a Malwarebytes VPN server, allowing you to use the internet safely.
- On the Mobile Security dashboard, turn VPN On.
- Tap Settings .
- Tap VPN.
- Under Auto connect VPN, tap Go to Settings.
- Tap the icon next to Malwarebytes.
- Switch on the Always-on VPN toggle.
Block connections without VPN on Android devices
Enabling Block connections without VPN protects your personal information by preventing you from accessing websites, such as banking websites, without first connecting to the VPN. In other words, this setting blocks your access to the internet if the VPN disconnects. If you're having issues accessing the internet, check if this setting is on.
- Open Mobile Security on your Android device.
- Tap Settings .
- Tap VPN.
- Tap Go to Settings.
- Next to Malwarebytes, click the cog icon .
- Toggle on Always-on VPN.
- Toggle on Block Connections without VPN.
Exclude apps from VPN with split tunneling
Split tunneling lets you decide which apps should use the VPN and which ones can connect directly to the internet. With this feature, you can choose specific apps to send their traffic through the VPN, while other apps can connect to the internet without it. By choosing which apps use the VPN, you can get better control and faster speeds.
Note: The Block connections without VPN setting needs to be off to use the split tunneling feature.
- Open Mobile Security on your Android device.
- Tap Settings .
- Tap VPN.
- Tap Split tunneling.
- Choose Exclude as your tunneling mode.
- Tap Add apps +. A new screen appears with a list of apps you have on your device.
- From the list of apps, check all the apps you want to bypass your VPN.
- Tap Save.
