McAfee exclusions for Malwarebytes Cloud

To help prevent conflicts between McAfee products and your Malwarebytes products, add mutual exclusions to the settings in Malwarebytes using the instructions below.


Set exclusions in Malwarebytes cloud console

Add McAfee to your Malwarebytes software's exclusions.

  1. Log in to the Malwarebytes Cloud Console.

  2. Click Settings > Exclusions.

  3. Click New, then add the McAfee file paths.

Here is a list of McAfee file and folder paths you should exclude in your Malwarebytes software:


Files by path

Applies to both 32-bit and 64-bit systems.

  • C:\Windows\System32\drivers\hdlpctrl.sys
  • C:\Windows\System32\drivers\hdlpdbk.sys
  • C:\Windows\System32\drivers\hdlpevnt.sys
  • C:\Windows\System32\drivers\hdlpflt.sys
  • C:\Windows\system32\drivers\hdlphook.sys
  • C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mfeaack.sys
  • C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mfeavfk.sys
  • C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mfeelamk.sys
  • C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mfeepmpk.sys
  • C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mfefirek.sys
  • C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mfehidk.sys

Applies to both 32-bit and 64-bit systems.

The following exclusion is also required for 64-bit systems.

  • %PROGRAMFILES(X86)%\McAfee
  • %PROGRAMFILES(X86)%\Common Files\McAfee


With mutual exclusions in place, your Malwarebytes software and McAfee business products should work alongside each other without conflicts.
