When Malwarebytes detects an available upgrade installer, it will download the update and prompt for installation. You should see a box like the one below

Upgrade Available

While not recommended, if you would like to disable these notifications, there's a few steps that need to be taken.

Disable Upgrade Notification inside of MB3

  1. Open Malwarebytes 3
  2. Navigate to Settings -> Application
  3. Find and disable the option that says "Notify me when full version updates are available"
    Upgrade Option

Delete Downloaded Installer

If you are still getting the upgrade notification after disabling the option above, you may need to delete the downloaded installer.

  1. Open Malwarebytes 3
  2. Navigate to Settings -> Protection
  3. Find and disable the option that says "Enable self-protection module"
  4. Navigate to C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\MBAMService
    • The ProgramData folder may be hidden, so you may need to turn on showing hidden files/folders or type the full path directly
  5. Delete the instlrupdate folder if it exists
    instlrupdate folder
  6. Close the window
  7. Open Malwarebytes 3
  8. Navigate to Settings -> Protection
  9. Find and enable the option that says "Enable Self-Protection Module"

You should no longer get any upgrade notifications from Malwarebytes
