Malwarebytes for Windows "Upgrade Available" notification

When Malwarebytes for Windows detects a new version is available, an Upgrade Available notification appears on your screen.  Malwarebytes for Windows needs your permission to install program upgrades.  To upgrade to the latest version of Malwarebytes for Windows, click Install Now.

 

 

If you do not want to see Upgrade Available notifications from Malwarebytes for Windows, see the Turn off Upgrade Available notifications steps below.

 

Turn off Upgrade Available notifications

To turn off all future Upgrade Available notifications, follow these steps:

  1. Open Malwarebytes for Windows.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Click the Application tab, then find Application Updates.
  4. View the Notify me when full version updates are available setting.
  5. Click the slider to the Off position.

 

If the Upgrade Available notification continues to appear, do the following:

  1. Open Malwarebytes for Windows.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Click the Protection tab.
  4. Scroll down to Startup Options.
  5. View the Enable self-protection module setting.
  6. Click the slider to the Off position.
    Note: Continue to step 7 if self-protection is off or not available.
  7. When the User Account Control window appears, click Yes.
  8. On your keyboard, press the Windows + R keys.
  9. Type explorer then click OK.
  10. When the Explorer window appears, type the following file path:
    C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\MBAMService
  11. Press Enter.
  12. Right-click the instlrupdate folder and click Delete.
  13. Open Malwarebytes for Windows.
  14. Repeat steps 1-5, then click the Enable self-protection module slider to the On position.

    Note: Continue if self-protection is not available.

 

After turning off Upgrade Available notifications, a notification does not appear when there is a new version of Malwarebytes for Windows.
