Android 2.2 introduces support for enterprise applications by offering the Android Device Administration API. The Device Administration API provides device administration features at the system level. Malwarebytes for Android needs this permission from the operating system to perform it's key features such as ransomware protection. With this feature on, you will not be able to uninstall the APP. If you attempt by App Management in the Device Settings the options to uninstall will not be accessible.
If you are uninstalling via the Google Play Store, there will be no option to uninstall, instead there will be an option to Deactivate the app.
You will need to turn off this feature before you can uninstall the APP. This article will contain the instructions on how to disable Device Administration. Before proceeding, make sure that the Device Settings and Google Play Store APPs are closed. If they are open you will need to refresh them by closing them and then reopening before you can uninstall Malwarebytes for Android.
1) Open the software and tap on the Menu button.
2) On the Menu, tap on Settings.
3) Next, tap on the Other button.
4) Tap on check mark next to Device Administrator to turn off the feature.
Once the feature is off, you may proceed to the uninstall.
