To uninstall Malwarebytes for Mac, you will need to find which version of Malwarebytes for Mac you have installed, then follow the instructions for your version.     


Find your Malwarebytes for Mac version

  1. Open Malwarebytes for Mac.

  2. On the menu bar, click Malwarebytes.

  3. Click About Malwarebytes.

  4. An About Malwarebytes window appears with your Malwarebytes for Mac Version Information.
    Use the Version Information to determine how you should uninstall Malwarebytes for Mac.


Uninstall Malwarebytes for Mac v3.1 or later

Uninstalling Malwarebytes for Mac v3.1 or later is done from the Help menu. 

  1. Open Malwarebytes for Mac.

  2. On the menu bar, click Help.

  3. Click Uninstall Malwarebytes.

  4. A prompt appears with the following message:
    "This will completely remove the Malwarebytes software. Are you sure you wish to proceed?"

  5. Click Yes.

  6. Enter your password.

  7. Click OK.


Uninstall Malwarebytes for Mac v3.0

You are required to download an uninstaller to remove Malwarebytes for Mac v3.0.

  1. Download the Malwarebytes for Mac v3.0 uninstaller.
    The file name of the uninstaller is Remove Malwarebytes.pkg.

  2. Locate the downloaded file.
    In most cases, downloaded files are saved to the Downloads folder.

  3. Double-click Remove Malwarebytes.pkg.

  4. Click Continue.

  5. Click Install.

  6. Enter your password, then click Install Software.
    The Malwarebytes for Mac Uninstaller runs and removes Malwarebytes for Mac from your computer.

  7. When the uninstaller is finished, click Close.

  8. You can choose to keep the Malwarebytes for Mac Uninstaller or move it to the Trash.


To confirm Malwarebytes for Mac is no longer installed on your computer, search for Malwarebytes.  If Malwarebytes for Mac does not appear, it was removed from your computer.  To search for Malwarebytes, refer to Apple's article Mac Basics: Spotlight helps you find what you‘re looking for.
