Once you activate your license in Malwarebytes for Windows, an automated scan will be set up for you. A scan can only be done while the machine is on. Your computer cannot be in sleep, hibernate, or off for a scan to run. Sometimes the automatically set up scheduled scan does not fall within those times. This article will show you where those settings reside so you can make edits to the default scan, or create you own scheduled scan.

Steps

  1. First, you want to turn on the software. You will arrive at the Dashboard (starting screen).
  2. You will click on the Settings button to be taken to the Settings screen.
  3. Then click on the Scan Schedule tab to view what scans list.

    • If you want to Edit the existing Scan:
      1. Check mark the box next to the Scan.
      2. Click on the Edit button, then the Scan Options pop up window will appear.
  4. If you are adding a new scan, click on the Add Button, and you will be taken to the scan Options pop up window.
  5. On this Pop Up window you will be able to set:
    • Operation type - What type of scan you want it to do. You can find more information about the different scans here.
    • Starting Date and Time - When you want the scan to start it's schedule.
    • Frequency - How often you want the Operation to take place.
  6. Once you have your scan set up the way you want, you will click on OK, to save your scan.
    • If you want to delete a scan that you scheduled, check mark the scan you want removed then click on the Delete Button to remove the scan.

For more advanced options, you can click on the Advanced Button.

In this section you will find two sets of additional settings.

  • Scheduled Options - Here you can adjust if you want detections automatically quarantined and removed, and if you want Archives or for Rootkits.
  • Recovery Options - This setting will set up a secondary attempt at a scan if a scheduled scan is missed. You can set how long the software will wait before it attempts to scan again.

Once you have everything configured and saved, you can exit the program.
