Malwarebytes Management Console unable to verify license key

Activating your license key in the Malwarebytes Management Console produces the following error message:

Unable to contact server to verify your license key.  Please check your connection.



Your antivirus, firewall, proxy settings, or other network configuration is preventing the Malwarebytes Management Console from contacting the activation server (



Ensure your network meets the following communication criteria:

  1. Add the following exceptions to your firewall and proxy settings (if applicable):
  2. Add as a Trusted Site in Internet Explorer.
    Refer to Microsoft's TechNet article, Internet Explorer: Enhanced Security Configuration.

  3. In the Windows Services Manager, restart Malwarebytes Management Service.
    1. Click the Start menu.
      For Windows Server 2003 operating systems, press the WINDOWS + R keys.

    2. Type services.msc, then press Enter.

    3. Right-click the Malwarebytes Management Service > Restart.

  4. If you have an antivirus application installed on your server, add the Malwarebytes Management Console to your antivirus' exclusions.
