Notifications can be distracting from your work or create a disturbing experience. Some of these notifications may not be necessary to the user, and they can be turned off.

Malwarebytes categorizes notifications as either non-critical or critical. Most critical notifications cannot be turned off, but we understand if a user does not want to receive pop-ups that are purely informative.

Critical notifications include warnings when Real-Time Protection is off, for example. A non-critical notification will inform you of smaller items, such as when a task is complete.

To disable non-critical notifications:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Click the Applications tab
  3. Scroll down to Notifications
  4. Click or slide the toggle to OFF

Critical notifications cannot be disabled, excluding Real-Time Protection reminders.

Or change how quickly notifications close:

If you choose to leave notifications enabled, you can select the amount of time the notifications remain displayed on your screen.

  1. Click on the drop down menu next to Close notifications after:
  2. Select the number of seconds desired.
