Real-Time Protection consists of four components: Web, Exploit, Malware, and Ransomware protection.  When any of these Real-Time Protection components are turned off, Malwarebytes for Windows Premium displays a Real-Time Protection turned off notification, as shown below.

You can help prevent Real-Time Protection from turning off by upgrading Malwarebytes for Windows or creating exclusions.  To try either of these options, refer to the workarounds provided below.

Note: Ransomware protection is not available on computers with Windows XP and Windows Vista.

Option 1: Upgrade Malwarebytes for Windows

Upgrading Malwarebytes for Windows may resolve Real-Time Protection issues.  To upgrade Malwarebytes for Windows, take a look at the article  Upgrade to the latest version of Malwarebytes for Windows.

Option 2: Exclude Malwarebytes for Windows

Malwarebytes for Windows is designed to work with other anti-virus applications.  If you have another anti-virus installed, it may conflict with Malwarebytes for Windows and cause issues with Real-Time protection.  You can help prevent conflicts by adding Malwarebytes for Windows to your anti-virus' exceptions.  For more information about setting up exclusions, refer to your anti-virus' documentation.
