We released Malwarebytes 3 at the end of 2016. With the increase in features, there is a little confusion about licenses to use and what happens to the pricing.Those questions can be answered in the Frequently Asked Questions.

How do Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and Anti-Exploit subscriptions transfer to Malwarebytes 3?

If you are unsure of what kind of subscription you have, create a Malwarebytes support ticket with your Key and ID (if you have one), and we will investigate further for you.   

If you have made multiple purchases directly through Malwarebytes with different reference numbers and separate licenses, each instance exists separately. 

For example, if you have:
  •     1 lifetime Anti-Malware license for PC => 1 Malwarebytes 3.0 lifetime license
  •     1 special bundle: 1 year 3 PC Anti-Malware license and a 1 year 3 PC Anti-Exploit license => 1 Malwarebytes 3.0 license for 6 PCs
  •     1 Anti-Exploit 1 year 3 PC license => Malwarebytes 3.0 license for 3 PCs
  •     1 year 1 PC Anti-Malware license => Malwarebytes 3.0 for 1 PC
  •     1 year 1 PC Anti-Exploit license => Malwarebytes 3.0 for 1 PC


I have a subscription for both Anti-Malware and Anti-Exploit. Which should I use?

Malwarebytes 3 can do the job of both Anti-Malware and Anti-Exploit. 

If you purchased your subscriptions to both products as part of a special bundle, you will not have to choose. You will get one license that combines both products and doubles the number of PCs you can protect. 

If you purchased your subscriptions separately, each will turn into a license for Malwarebytes 3, and you can decide to choose one or the other. As our licenses can be purchased for multiple PCs, you can choose the license that best fits your needs.

Will I get charged twice to renew my Anti-Malware and Anti-Exploit subscriptions?

You will only be charged once per purchase to renew your subscriptions. If you have multiple subscriptions, you will be charged a renewal for each subscription.

Are non-renewing licenses grandfathered with Malwarebytes 3?

Only active subscriptions to Malwarebytes premium products are grandfathered with Malwarebytes 3.

Non-renewing licenses do not have a subscription. They are active for 1 year and do not renew.  When it comes time to renew you will need to purchase a new license.

You can upgrade to Malwarebytes 3 software but since there is no active subscription it will not automatically renew.

You can convert to an Automatic Renewal Subscription by contacting Malwarebytes Support.

Once you agree to having your license auto-renew on a subscription then your license will convert over to an active subscription license and be subject to the grandfathering prices.

I have purchased Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and Anti-Exploit separately; which license should I use for Malwarebytes 3?

Malwarebytes 3 can do the job of both Anti-Malware and Anti-Exploit; there isn’t a need to have a subscription to both.

Deciding which license to use is determined by how many computers you want to protect, as our licenses can be configured to accommodate different amounts of computers.  Choose the license that best fits your usage.


If I cancel one of my duplicate subscriptions, will I get a pro-rated refund or will the time be added to the subscription that I chose?

With Malwarebytes 3 providing the protection level that previously required two separate programs, we understand that you may not need the subscription for one of the programs. What can be done will depend on a few factors and a Malwarebytes Support Agent will work with you to choose the appropriate resolution.
