Received a website blocked notification

Version 26

A website blocked notification appears when malicious website (web) protection detects a website, URL, or IP address that is suspicious or known to contain malware.  Web protection is a feature available in the Premium versions of Malwarebytes for Windows, Malwarebytes for Mac, and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.

Below is an example of a Website blocked notification.

The Website blocked notification above shows the following information:

    • The Domain of the blocked website.
    • The IP address blocked.
    • Which port the website or IP address used.
    • Whether the website was inbound or outbound:
      • Outbound: A file or process attempted to contact an IP address that is in our database.
      • Inbound: An IP address that is in our database attempted to contact the computer using a file or process.
    • The file (or process) that was involved.

Website blocked notifications are a sign web protection is working properly.  If a Website blocked notification appears, run a threat scan using either Malwarebytes for Windows or Malwarebytes for Mac to detect malicious software on your computer.
